Jack, founder of Auburn Indoors, opened the shop in Le Bordage in October 2018 as a base for his landscaping business and his new interior plantscaping venture, ‘Auburn Living Walls’, which was later rebranded as Auburn Indoors.
I don’t think Jack ever envisaged that, a few years later, his old art college friend Kim would be joining him to embark on this journey together!
Where It All Began
Before Auburn Indoors became a limited company in 2025, the business traded under the umbrella of Auburn Holdings Limited, owned by Jack, which also operated the landscaping business ‘Auburn Gardens’.
Check out the spade sticker in the window in the picture below. It took us a looooong time to peel those stickers off the windows when we moved out in March 2024!
A New Mural for the Shop
November 2021
Towards the end of 2021, we decided it was time to give the shop front a much-needed facelift. Despite our vibrant orange frontage, we wanted the public to be able to easily identify what our business does, because we know it isn’t immediately obvious from our name!
We wanted a truly unique plant mural that would instantly catch the eye of passers-by.
Tom Rowe designed and painted the mural, incorporating vines and monstera leaves around our company logo. We loved the finished result. Thanks, Melon!
Car crash at the Showroom
It was a cold winter’s evening when the residents in the apartment above the shop were abruptly awoken by a drunk driver who had crashed into the building!
The car slammed into the front of the shop with a loud bang, leaving blue scratch marks across the frontage. The picture below shows the minor damage caused to the mural, which had only been painted a few months earlier.
Luckily, there wasn’t any structural damage to the building. The front door was buckled by the impact of the car, but we were able to manoeuvre the handle back into place.
We received an apology letter from the driver a few days after the incident, which we appreciated. No hard feelings, buddy – we hope you’re doing well.
Time to Grow…
After five years in Le Bordage, we decided it was time for a bigger space – with parking! – and relocated to Unit 1, Fineshade Centre, Les Baissières.
